I love learning, and being around smart, dynamic people who are constantly evolving. Being one of seven kids, it’s no surprise that I love loud, animated meetings in which everyone is arguing their position in an effort to advance the ball. Oh, and I love sports analogies.
I was on the speaking circuit for several years, speaking in front of audiences ranging from 25 to 2,000 people, and I found that the audience of 25 much more challenging. In addition to my work with SpeakWell Partners, I teach leadership communication at the Wharton School.
One more fun fact: For most of my career, I’ve lived a secret life as a fitness instructor. First it was a way to make sure I exercised on a regular basis. Then it became a great way to manage my waistline without having to give up carbohydrates. Now it helps me manage stress.

Best Speaking Experience
Hearing 2,000 people laugh at a spontaneous joke I made.
Worst Speaking Experience
Being interviewed by a reporter not knowing she was tape recording and would use my words verbatim. That’s when I stopped saying “um” so I guess it was a good lesson.
